A Valentine's Day Poem for the Struggling Screenwriter

You write, you slave and you toil
Over every painful beat
You write, re-write and write again
Rinse and then repeat

Act One left you quite hopeful

After boy and girl's cute meet
But then Act Two approached you
And you never thought it'd be complete

But oh! Alas! To your surprise
Act Two went really, quite well
The Fun and Games were giddy
And the midpoint was quite swell
Then your hero became weary
And into darkness he soon fell

But you wrote.
You persevered.
You summoned your good will
And when Act Three came charging...
You steadied for the kill

You clicked and clacked quite monstrously
Like you'd never clacked before
You led your hero valiantly
Right to the villain's door

You wrote his epic struggle
With the epic, evil king
And as he swung his sword you yelled
"Ah the glory of writing!"

But soon your face fell flat, aghast
When Final Draft just quit
"I forgot to save. I forgot to save!
Screenwriting's such bullshit!"

Alas, it's for the best. I swear.
I promise. Just relax.
Though writing can be tough to love
At least it loves you back!
